A Spectacular Finale at the Asian Esports Games 2024

Bangkok, Thailand, 3 December 2024 – The curtain officially closed on the electrifying Asian Esports Games (AEG) 2024 in Bangkok on December 1, 2024, leaving behind unforgettable moments, notable victories, and an inspiring celebration of esports talent from across Asia. Hosted by the Thailand Esports Federation with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand, and the National Sports Development Fund, the event was sanctioned by AESF.

The final match of the event showcased an intense eFootball™ battle between Thailand’s Nattawat “TXRO” Namburee and Malaysia’s Ahmad Muhaimin “Minbappe” Abdul Razak. In a thrilling 3-2 victory, TXRO secured the Gold Medal for Team Thailand with unmatched skill and precision. Minbappe earned the Silver Medal, while India’s Pavan “GodL-mrtomboyYT” Kampelli took Bronze. Notably, Qinglin “Tjc_Sweat” Han of China made history as the first Chinese athlete to compete internationally in eFootball™, achieving a Top 8 finish out of 23 participating countries and regions.

Arena of Valor victory ceremony - medals and flowers were presented by Dr. Tran Van Manh and Mr. Wutthichai Chaijit  

Team Thailand continued their dominance in the Arena of Valor (AoV) event, taking home the Gold Medal. Team Vietnam claimed Silver, and Team Chinese Taipei secured Bronze after fierce competition among nine national teams.

MLBB Women's event: medals and flowers were presented by Mr. Santi Lothong and Mr. Steve Kim

The MLBB Women’s event marked a historic milestone for esports, featuring participation from 20 countries and regions—the largest representation of women’s national teams in Asia to date. Teams from Thailand, Timor-Leste, Iran, and China PR made their international debuts. In a surprise achievement, Team China’s women’s national team earned the Bronze Medal, becoming the first to do so on the international stage. The Gold Medal went to the all-time champion, Team Indonesia, while Team Philippines secured Silver, highlighting the growing prominence of women in esports.

In the overall medal tally, Team Thailand emerged as the leader with two Gold Medals. They were closely followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, each earning notable finishes in their respective categories. 


 

Beyond the competitions, the AESF, in collaboration with HealthyGaming, hosted a workshop focused on safeguarding the mental health of athletes, team officials, and staff. Led by HealthyGaming CEO Christoffer Johansson, the workshop addressed prevention and intervention strategies, emphasizing the importance of a robust support system within the evolving esports ecosystem. It also examined the root causes of abuse in the esports scene, reinforcing the significance of this partnership as a cornerstone of AESF’s efforts to create an environment where every individual can thrive, regardless of their role. The workshop was attended by 20 officials and athletes.

Throughout the event, distinguished dignitaries, including AESF Executive Board Members Dr. Tran Van Manh, Mr. Azat Myradov, and Mr. Lokesh Suji, alongside partners from Konami and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, observed the proceedings. The Victory Ceremony honored the medalists with presentations by officials and guests, including Mr. Wutthichai Chaijit from the Sports Authority of Thailand, TESF President Mr. Santi Lothong, AESF Vice President Dr. Tran Van Manh, Mr. Lokesh Suji, AESF Director General Mr. Sebastian Lau, and AESF COO Mr. Steve Kim. 

 

The Asian Esports Games 2024 has set a new benchmark in Asia, celebrating unity, gender equality, diversity, excellence, and the limitless potential of esports. Thailand looks forward to continuing the hosting of the AEG to grow with future editions.
