Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The AESF is once again joining the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games with a great responsibility in our official role as the Technical Delegate for the Esports program at the regional Olympic event in Cambodia. As the governing body for Esports in Asia, the AESF has been working tirelessly with the Local Organizing Committee to ensure that this year's event repeats the success of the Esports program at the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
AESF Competitions Manager and 2023 SEA Games Technical Delegate at the Esports Program, Jeff Lam
The AESF's mission as Technical Delegate is to showcase the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship through competitive performance and fair competition. The AESF and the regional Esports communities have learned that Esports has the power to unite people from all over the region, and are dedicated to highlighting its positive aspects in collaboration with the Olympic community.
Since its inception at the 2019 SEA Games, the AESF has played a pivotal role in organizing and executing Esports as an official medal sport for the region. As the Technical Delegate, we will ensure that Esports can continuously share and present the Olympic values throughout the Esports programs at the 2023 SEA Games. The AESF has also consistently exerted its best efforts to introduce Esports programs at international and regional Olympic events such as the Asian Games, Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, Gulf Games, and East Asian Youth Games. As a result, most Asian regions now accept Esports as a part of their Olympic sport programs.
As Esports is a rapidly growing industry and a recognized sport, the AESF takes its responsibility seriously in ensuring that athletes and teams can perform at their very best while learning and respecting the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship.
