AESF Welcomes Pengurus Besar Esports Indonesia (PBESI) as a New Member Association

AESF welcomes Pengurus Besar Esports Indonesia (PBESI) as a new member association. Pengurus Besar Esports Indonesia (PBESI), led by President Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, S.H., M.Si., holds a central and authoritative role as the primary regulatory body overseeing Esports as a competitive sport in the Republic of Indonesia.


PBESI's mission is dedicated to advancing, nurturing, and catalysing all aspects of Esports within the legal framework of the Republic of Indonesia. The federation has built a significant presence through a network of 34 provincial-level, 87 city-level, and an impressive 322 district-level offices nationwide. This extensive network reflects its commitment to developing Esports at both grassroots and professional levels. The core mission is to position Indonesia as a key player in the global Esports arena, showcasing the nation's potential as a thriving hub for Esports in Asia.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Emphasis on talent scouting nationwide through initiatives like the National Esports Leagues, National Student Esports League, and Esports Academy, aimed at nurturing and regenerating a pool of Esports athletes throughout the Indonesian archipelago.


Prominent Game Titles:

  • Mobile Legends, PUBGM, Free Fire, eFootball, Dota 2, and Valorant are the popular game titles in Indonesia. Additionally, there's a rise in game titles developed by local game developers, including Lokapala, Battle of Guardian, Wardeka, and various emerging titles.


Demographics:

  • The Esports community in Indonesia comprises approximately 70% Mobile Gamers, 20% PC Gamers, and 10% Console Gamers.

  • PBESI plays a pivotal role in organizing, hosting, as well as participating in these upcoming events:
  1. National Esports League Premier Playoffs scheduled for 1-3 December 2023, Jakarta.

  3. Indonesia Esports Summit 2024
  4. National Student Esports League 2024
  5. National Student Sports Weeks 2024
  6. Participation of Esports Indonesia in the 16th WEC Riyadh


By being an official member of the AESF, member countries receive benefits such as federation support, networking as well as eligibility to officially compete in all regional AESF tournaments.
