The Asian Games 2022 DOTA 2 Finals: Battle of The Titans

03 OCT 23

Team China entered the DOTA 2 Asian Games as a frontrunner, featuring iconic figures such as Ame and Somnus. Ame, who had been on an extended hiatus from competitive DOTA 2, demonstrated that he still possesses the skills to compete at the highest level. This former PSG.LGD roster once again reigned supreme in the DOTA 2 realm, solidifying their reputation as one of the most enduring and formidable teams in the history of DOTA 2.

While Team China entered the tournament as the favored team, the road to Gold was not easy. In the Upper Bracket, they faced setbacks with losses against Team Malaysia and Team Mongolia. Team Malaysia boasted a formidable lineup featuring TI finalists like NothingToSay and xNova, while Mongolia's team exhibited remarkable synergy and chemistry. While Team Malaysia eventually lost 1-2 to Team China and went on the claim the Bronze at the Finals, Team China’s Gold medal match against Team Mongolia was nothing short of spectacular.

Team Mongolia astounded everyone with victories over teams like Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, earning their place in the grand finale. One of the key contributing factors to their success was their extensive experience playing competitive DOTA 2 together.

The showdown for the Gold medal began with an astonishing performance from the Mongolian side, led by an exceptional Dark Willow, an unconventional hero-role combination in competitive DOTA 2. This surprising strategy propelled them to a 1-0 lead. Both teams meticulously crafted their strategies and win conditions for the subsequent two games. Despite Team Mongolia having multiple opportunities to secure another win, Team China's wealth of DOTA 2 experience shone through in crucial moments, securing their triumph in the inaugural DOTA 2 event at the Asian Games. Mongolia's athletes displayed incredible resilience and prowess throughout the event, deserving their Silver Medal.
